Lemongrass has it's name because of the intens smell of lemon, that it disperses. The origin of lemongrass is not clear, but it proberby is India. Today lemongrass is cultivated in many tropical regions all over the world.  Another interessting field to work with lemongrass origins in Asia, where it is used  to spice up meals. The Nouvelle Cuisine is about to make it a fashion.
In industrial use, lemongrass works as a popular donor of flavour.
